Yudai Shigeoka was born on April 16, 1997, in Kumamoto, Japan. The Japanese fighter is 160 cm tall and has a wingspan of 163 cm.

He competed in the mini Flyweight division during his professional tenure. He fought from a southpaw position and trained out of the Watanabe Gym in Tokyo. He had a highly successful amateur career, winning multiple national championships before turning professional.

Career

Shigeoka began his professional campaign in October 2019 with a second-round TKO victory. He quickly established himself as a force in the lower weight classes, capturing the Japanese and WBO Asia Pacific Mini-Flyweight titles early in his career.

In April 2023, he stopped Wilfredo Mendez to win the WBC Interim Mini-Flyweight Title. He achieved full champion status in October 2023 by defeating long-reigning champion Panya Pradabsri via unanimous decision. This victory was part of a historic event where he and his brother Ginjiro both won world titles on the same card.

His title reign ended in March 2024 when he lost a split decision to Melvin Jerusalem in Nagoya. Shigeoka sought redemption in a rematch held in March 2025 but was defeated via unanimous decision.

Following the loss and citing his brother's serious health condition, Shigeoka announced his retirement from the sport in August 2025.
