Professional Boxing Career

Davis debuted as a professional boxer in February 2013, when he faced Desi Williams, who was at that time, had no wins yet. Unfortunately for Williams, he wasn’t able to take any wins, as he was knocked out on the first round by Davis. By August 2014, Davis has already recorded 8 wins since his debut without losses yet.

One of the fights that made him popular was when he challenged Jose Pedraza for the IBF Super featherweight title. Both players were undercards for James Degale and Badou Jack’s fight at the Barclays Center. At that time, Davis was lucky enough to be trained by Floyd Mayweather Jr., and he maintained his composure throughout the match. Because of the confidence, his trainer gave him, he was able to knock out Pedraza in the 7th round.

His next title was the WBA (Super) Super featherweight title, where he had to face Jesus Cuellar, the former titleholder. In the 3rd round, he was able to knock out his opponent when he landed 2 left hook punches to Cuellar’s body.

Controversies

His life as a boxer wasn’t at all picture-perfect, as he was involved in a series of controversies, such as being accused of first-degree aggravated assault by his childhood friend, Anthony Wheeler, in September 2017. In February 2020, he was also arrested for domestic violence as complained about by his girlfriend. He was seen grabbing his girlfriend’s shirt with his right hand and taking her to a separate room.
