The Grinnell System is a fast-paced style of basketball developed by Coach David Arseneault.
It is a variation of the run-and-gun system used by Coach Paul Westhead. The Grinnell System focuses on shooting many three-point shots and applying constant full-court pressure.
It also involves frequently substituting players, similar to line changes in hockey. The goal is to take significantly more shots than the opponent. This is achieved by forcing turnovers and grabbing offensive rebounds.
Coach Arseneault created the system at Grinnell College to rejuvenate the struggling basketball program. His son, David Arseneault Jr., later used a modified version of the system as a coach in the then-NBA Development League.
