A Free Throw, also known as a foul shot, is an uncontested shot in basketball. It is awarded to a player after they are fouled while shooting or during a Technical Foul.
The player stands behind the free throw line, 15 feet from the basket. They shoot the ball without any defenders trying to block the shot. All other players line up along the sides of the free-throw lane. Each successful free throw is worth one point.
NBA players known for their high free throw percentages include Stephen Curry, Steve Nash, and Mark Price.
