Floater

A Floater is a type of basketball shot that follows a high arc.

It is typically used by shorter players, especially guards, to score over taller defenders. The high trajectory makes it difficult for the defender to block the shot.

To execute a floater, the player releases the ball with a soft touch. This causes the ball to "float" in a high arc toward the basket. Floaters are often used when driving into the lane amongst taller players.

While it can be an effective shot, it is also challenging to master. Proper footwork, touch, and release points are crucial for a successful floater.

Basketball players who are known for their floater shots include, Luka Doncic, Trae Young, Chris Paul, Tony Parker, and James Harden.
