Double bonus

A Double Bonus is when a team gets two free throws after the other team makes 10 fouls or more. Once in the double bonus, any additional non-shooting foul results in two free throws. Many leagues use the double bonus rule, but some do not follow it.

The term "Double Bonus" isn't officially in the basketball rulebook. However, fans and media commonly use it to describe this situation. It encourages the team to draw more fouls to get extra free throws.

The double bonus can be an important factor late in close games. The team in the bonus has an advantage to score extra points. Meanwhile, the opposing team must be careful to avoid fouling and giving up free throws.

Officially, the term does not appear in any basketball rule book but is often carried out as one that is widely used by fans and the media.
