José Calderón is a Spanish former professional basketball player who played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association and several years in Spain's Liga ACB. He was also constantly a part of the Spanish Men’s National Basketball Team, winning gold in the FIBA World Cup and EuroBasket. José Calderón began his professional basketball career in Spain, playing for several teams before joining the NBA. He played for Diputación Foral Alava 1998-1999, Lucentum Alicante 1999-2001, Fuenlabrada 2001-2002, and Tau Cerámica 2002-2005.In 2005, he made the leap to the NBA, signing with the Toronto Raptors where he played until 2013.
He then had stints with the Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, [[Atlanta Hawks], and Cleveland Cavaliers before finishing his NBA career with the Detroit Pistons in 2019.
José Calderón is one of the most efficient shooters in NBA history. He holds the record for the highest free throw percentage in a single season (98.1% in 2008-09), and he nearly achieved the rare 50/40/90 shooting season in 2007-08.
International Career
Calderón was a key member of the Spanish National Team. He won silver medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, a FIBA World Cup gold medal in 2006, and EuroBasket gold medals in 2011 and 2015.Post-Playing Career
