Elton Brand is a former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Player. As of 2022, he is the General Manager for the NBA Team, the Philadelphia 76ers. As a player, Brand is a two-time NBA All-Star. In 2006, he was given the NBA Sportsmanship Award.

Elton Tyron Brand was born on March 11, 1979, in Cortlandt Manor, New York in the United States of America. He stands 206 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 115 kg.In 2000, he started the Elton Brand Foundation. In 2006, he married Shahara Simmons. He is one of the founding members of Gibraltar Films.
High School and College Career
Brand attended Peekskill High School where he played in the AAU against fellow future NBA players including Ron Artest and Lamar Odom. In his senior year, he was named New York State Mr. Basketball. Brand was heavily recruited and he chose to play collegiate basketball for Duke University.
He attended Duke from 1997 to 1999. In 1998, he was named the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year. In 1999, he received All-American honors and he was also named that year’s National College Player of the Year.
Professional Career
Brand joined the NBA in 1999 during the NBA Draft. He was picked by the Chicago Bulls as the first overall pick of the draft. In 2000, he was named the NBA Co-Rookie of the Year and was also named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.Despite being named Rookie of the Year, he did not have much success with the Bulls. In 2001, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. Brand played for the team through to 2008. While with the Clippers, he was named an NBA All-Star twice, once in 2002 and 2006. Also in 2006, he was named to the All-NBA Second Team.
In 2008, he signed to play with the Philadelphia 76ers. He had wanted to return to playing on the East Coast and chose to go with the offer from the 76ers. In 2009, he underwent surgery on his shoulder that prematurely ended his season.
In 2012, the 76ers released him via an amnesty clause and he started playing with the Dallas Mavericks after they claimed him off waivers. In 2013, he signed with the Atlanta Hawks, and in August 2015, he announced that he was retiring from the NBA. In 2016, he briefly came out of retirement and signed with the 76ers again. He retired once more in October of that year.
After his playing career, he became the Player Development Consultant for the 76ers. In 2018, he was promoted to become the General Manager for the 76ers.
