Brandon Roy, the young Portland Trailblazers star, is going to be the breakout player of the NBA in the 2009-2010 season. His young Blazers are ready to take the next step, get into the second round of the playoffs.
After coming to Portland in a draft day trade, Brandon has won the rookie of the year, and made multiple all star appearances during his short, but stellar career.
With former No. 1 pick Greg Oden, forward LeMarcus Aldridge, and young Spanish guard Rudy Fernandez, the Blazers have a solid young core of players to build for the future.
To keep the young talent intact, the Blazers extended Roy’s contract this summer. Brandon is one of the best players in the league. He can score from anywhere, has great quickness and vision, and can play the point position if he needs to.
Along with Danny Granger of the Indiana Pacers, Roy is the NBA’s most underrated and most unappreciated player. While Roy plays in Portland, far from the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles, his team does benefit from receiving a nice amount of national television games.
The Blazers continue to improve and will get to the second round of the playoffs. Roy will have an MVP-like year, and LeMarcus Aldridge will make his first all star team. The Blazers have been on the cusp for several years, and this is the year they make a name for themselves.
