Travis Best is a former professional basketball player from the United States of America. He played in the [National Basketball Association][1] (NBA). After retiring from the NBA, he moved on to play for European Basketball Leagues before eventually deciding to retire from the sport in 2009.
He debuted in the NBA on November 3, 1995. He was drafted by the Indiana Pacers. While in Europe, he was part of the Asseco Prokum Gdynia team that won the 2007 Polish League Championship.

Best attended the Springfield Central High School where he played on the varsity team. In his senior year, he was awarded the Lahovich Award, which is given to outstanding basketball in Western Massachusetts. He received several scholarships offers, including those from the University of Virginia and the University for Connecticut. He eventually chose the offer from the Georgia Institute of Technology.He played for Georgia Tech for four years and helped lead the team to some victories and accomplishments, including the ACC Tournament Championship in 1993. In the same year, he was named to the Third-Team All-ACC. He was also later named to the Second Team All-ACC team twice, once in 1994 and again in 1995.
Career with the NBA
During the 1995 NBA Draft, he was picked by the Indiana Pacers during the first round. He was their 23rd overall pick. He debuted later that year in November. He stayed with the Pacers from 1995 through to 2002.During the early 21st century, he switched through a number of NBA teams, including the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and the New Jersey Nets. After he was released by the Nets, he turned his attention to playing in the European Leagues.
Europe
Best’s first Euro League team was the Russian team, UNICS Kazan. He then moved on to play for Virtus Bologna. When he was with the Polish team Asseco Prokom Gdynia, they won the Polish League Championships.He also signed with Air Avellino and NSB Napoli before retiring from the sport.
