This was announced on July 10, Saturday evening on ABC in its annual Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly award show.
It was a great honor after a season of Curry having been named to the All-NBA First Team 2020-21. This was a recognition for him leading the league in scoring for the second time in his career.
Curry averages 32.0 points per game48.2 percent from the field, 91.6 percent from the line, and 42.1 percent from the three-point range. He has 5.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds, with 1.22 steals in 34.2 minutes in more than 63 games.
The 33-year-old is now the oldest scoring champion, surpassing Michael Jordan, who averaged 28.7 points per game at 35, back in 1997-98. Curry is also a finalist for the NBA’s Kia Most Valuable Player 2020-21, which went to Nikola Jokic.
The Warriors guard is also the Western Conference Player of the Month for both April and May. He couldn’t attend the ESPY Award as he was in Lake Tahoe as he was scheduled to participate in a celebrity golf tournament.
Some of the winners at ESPY 2021 include Naomi Osaka for Best Athlete, Women’s Sports, Cristiano Ronaldo for Best international athlete in men’s soccer, and Tom Brady for Best Athlete, Men’s Athlete and Best NFL player.
