Evan Fournier is a French professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. He played in the French Basketball League early in his career. As of early 2024, he plays for the Detroit Pistons in the National Basketball Association. Fournier represents France in international events and in 2020, he was part of the team that won the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for men’s basketball.

Evan Mehdi Fournier was born on October 29, 1992, in Saint-Maurice, Val-de-Marne, France. His mother is Algerian while his father is French. He grew up a fan of Mike Bibby of the Sacramento Kings.

Professional Career

Fournier began playing professionally in 2009 when he signed with JSF Nanterre in the LNB Pro Bo. He was later promoted to playing in the LNB Pro A and signed with the Poitiers Basket 86. In 2012, He was named an LNB All-Star. He was also the 2011 and 2012 French League Best Young Player.

He was drafted by the National Basketball Association during the 2012 NBA Draft. He was selected in the first round and was the 20th overall pick of the draft by the Denver Nuggets. He joined the Nuggets in the NBA Summer League.

In 2013, he was traded to the Orlando Magic and played with the team through to 2021. While on the team, he scored a career-high 32 points in a game against the Golden State Warriors. In 2021, he was traded to the Boston Celtics.

In August 2021, he was traded to the New York Knicks in a sign-and-trade deal. He made his debut with the team in October of that year. In March 2022, he broke the Knicks team record for the most three-pointers in a season, breaking John Starks’ record which was set in 1995.

In 2024, he was traded to the Detroit Pistons. The trade was in exchange for Bojan Bogdanović and Alec Burks.
