Lucie Safarova is a retired female professional tennis player who hails from Brno, Czechoslovakia. She is an Olympian bronze medalist in the doubles division of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. Safarova was ranked as the world top number five prior to her retirements.

She was born on February 4, 1987 to father, Milan, and mother, Jana. Her father used to be her coach, but these days she is looked after by Rob Steckley. She began to handle a tennis racket at a tender age of 3. In addition to her tennis prowess, Lucie also multilingual: speaking Czech, German, and English. She also enjoys playing basketball, table tennis, and swimming.

Safarova played her first games in her career in 2001, but took a break from playing in 2002. However, she did continue to play once more in 2003. She officially turned pro in 2002.

It was in 2005 when Safarova had her breakthrough season, which was highlighted by her very first Tour singles title when she played at Estoril. This was the year where she rose from No. 106 to No. 77, marking her Top 100 debut, and then making it up to the Top 50 by November 7.

2007 is considered to be one of her best years. She was able to reach a new career-high at No. 22. However, she withdrew from some events due to certain injuries and sicknesses. She withdrew from Charleston and Amelia Island due to flu; from Antwerp because of tendonitis on her left shoulder, and from Linz, Moscow, and Zurich because of some illness.

Through the years, Lucie Safarova has gained more experience in her playing career. In 2015, she was able to win Grand Slam titles in doubles, and even reached the Top 5 ranks. She celebrated her first Olympic medal and a victory at the US Open doubles title despite having continuing injuries in 2016.

Safarova plays a left-handed and has a two-handed backhand. Her brilliant timing off ground allows her to relay powerful groundstrokes effectively. And her ability to spot opportunities has given her many amazing winners. To top it off, she is a very fast runner.

Since turning pro, Safarova has a career record of 448 victories and 317 losses. She has won 7 WTA and 7 ITF career titles in singles. The highest rank she achieved in the singles division was at No. 5 in September 14, 2015.

In doubles, she has a career record of 202 victories and 148 losses. Lucie Safarova also won 15 WTA and 1 ITF career title in doubles. The highest rank she achieved in the doubles division was at No. 1 in August 21, 2017. Sarafova has to won 3 Grand Slam tournaments in doubles and has already made it to the final round of the French Open singles division.
