Viktoriya Kutuzova
Viktoriya Kutuzova is a female professional tennis player from Ukraine who was born on August 19, 1988 in the City of Oddessa. This 21-year-old player became No. 76 in the world by November 2005 which is her highest ranking achievement in her career.
She began playing tennis at a young age of 7 with her father and coach Valeriy Kutuzova at the Odessa Tennis Academy. In her junior years, she competed at the Tier II in Los Angeles in 2003. She defeated Lina Krasnoroutskaya in the first round, and then creamed Alexandra Stevenson in the second round. By the third round, Kutuzova faced then World No. 12, Ai Sugiyama and lost the match. In that same year, she reached the final round at the 2003 Australian Open but was defeated by Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
Viktoriya turned professional in 2003 but made her first ITF win by November 2005 held in Deauville, France, defeating Tszvetana Pironkova. Then she competed in the same event in the same date in Poitiers, France this time defeating Maret Ani. A year after, on November 2006, she went back to Deauville, France and won the same ITF title on a clay court, beating Alberta Brianti.
In 2006, she competed in four Grand Slam tournaments, at the Australian Open, at the French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open, but was not able to take home the title.
Kutuzova went back to France on May 2008, this time in Cagnes-Sur-Mer and won the ITF final against Maret Ani. And as of September 2009, she holds the World No. 80 rank in woman’s singles.
