Helen Rebecca Hellwig was a female American tennis player who was noted to be one of the female Grand Slam champions throughout tennis history. She was born on March 1874 in Brooklyn, United States, and died in November 26, 1960.

Unfortunately, not a lot of information can be found regarding Hellwig except snippets of her performance as a memorable player who won a Grand Slam championship title.

It was in 1894 that Hellwig managed to win the American Tennis Championship, or the U.S. Open as it is now known, against the defending champion, Aline Terry. The said match spanned five sets but Hellwig still emerged as the match’s victor. She also participated in the doubles matches with fellow American Juliette Atkinson. Together with Atkinson, Hellwig was able to defeat Annabella Wistar and Amy Williams. Unfortunately, Hellwig was unable to retain her title when she lost to her partner Atkinson. On the other hand, in the doubles arena, Hellwig and her trusty partner Atkinson were still able to win the matches.

With regards to her passing, there is no data or information that can be found regarding Hellwig’s death. Only the date of her passing has been noted by the history books of the tennis playing world.
