Mima Jausovec
Mina Jausovec was born on July 20, 1956 in Maribor, Slovenia. She is one of the world’s greatest tennis players in the women’s category. She made her mark when she won the Grand Slam title in the French Open in 1977.
Her career lasted for fifteen years which started in 1973 through 1988. She started her career in 1973, but it wasn’t until 1983 though that she made her mark when she won the French Open. She also won the same title in 1983. She and her partner, Virginia Ruzini won the women’s doubles title of the French open in 1978. They also were runners up in the famous Wimbledon Championship in the same year against Kerry Reid and Wendy Turnbull. Although it was not always that she won the titles, she has consistently qualified for the finals. In 1978, she qualified for the finals and garnered second place in the French Open against Virginia Ruzini. Jausovec also made in to the finals, but was beaten by Chris Evert in the French Open in 1983. Although her professional career only lasted for about 15 years, she kept a good track of titles during her time.
She officially retired from her professional career in 1988. Since then, she has devoted her time to coaching the Slovenian National Female Tennis Team. She has also tried a different field by going into politics in 2004 where she ran for the European Parliament, but unfortunately, she was not as successful in politics as she was in tennis.
