Yaroslava Vyacheslavovna Shvedova is a female professional tennis player from Russia. She was born on September 12, 1987 in Moscow, Russia to father, Vyacheslav (also her coach), and mother, Nurzia, a professional runner. She has one brother named Pavel, and has a cat named “Tema”. She does her training at the CSKA Club located in Moscow, and she started playing tennis when she was just 8 years old. Her tennis interest was sparked when her father introduced her to the sport.

Shvedova turned pro in 2002 and basically played all of her first events of her career on the ITF Circuit. She tried in 2003 to join the Tour, but she fell at the tournament held at Tashkent. During the said year, she did win her very first singles title on the ITF Circuit. The following year, she went on to play on the ITF Circuit.

It was in 2005 that she made her very first Tour debut at a game in Philadelphia. She managed to reach the second round of the said tournament however she lost on her way to next round in a game against Petrova. During the rest of her season, she simply played on the ITF Circuit.

By 2006, she participated in two more Tour main draws and reached the second round at Memphis. However, she lost her chances of winning the tournament when she was defeated by Frazier. She also fell in the first round of Wimbledon during the said year.

To date, Shvedova has a career record of 130-81. Through these matches played, she has won one WTA title as well as 3 ITF titles in singles. As four doubles, she has not yet won a single WTA title, however, she has garnered 2 ITF titles. Her highest rank ever reached was at No. 70, which she achieved in August 27, 2007.
