Lourdes Dominguez
Lourdes Domínguez Lino is a professional tennis player. She was born in March 31, 1981 in Pontevedra, Spain. Small and yet powerful, this 27-year-old stands 1.63 meters tall, and weighs 60 kilograms, truly a power-packed little package.
Dominguez-Lino won one WTA Tour Singles Tournament in February of 2006 against the Italian Flavia Pennetta. A year before her win, she faced the same opponent in Bogota, but lost the round. She redeemed herself the following year though, the scores revealing a 7–6, 6–4 match.
Her career suffered a controversial slump when in 2002, she was meted a three-month suspension for testing positive on drugs, particularly cocaine. She bounced back from the slump though, claiming her WTA Tour title two years after her suspension. It was in 2006 that she also reached the highest ranking in her career; she took the no.40 spot in the world rankings.
In 2008, Lino is active in the tennis scene, but has had a hard time bagging wins. She participated in ten singles tournaments, including the following: the first one was the Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts, held from December 31, 2007 through January 06, 2008 where she went against Julia Schruff; the second one was in the Australian Open early in January, where she matched against Katarina Srebotnik; the third was the Cachantun Cup in February, where she battled it out with Klara Zakopalova for the quarterfinals; the fourth event was the Copa Colsanitas Santander; the fifth one was Abierto Mexicano Telcel, where she competed against Japanese sensation Rika Fujiwara. Lino participated in six more events this year, without any wins.
A right-handed player, Lino’s current statistics include a Singles Ranking at 90 and a Doubles Ranking at 89.
