Diana Maximovna Shnaider was born in Zhigulevsk, Russia. She stands 170 cm tall and is left-handed with a two-handed backhand. She played college tennis at NC State in the United States, earning All-American honors and ACC Freshman of the Year. She is known for her blue polka-dot bandana, which she has worn since childhood.

Shnaider was a top junior, reaching a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 3 in December 2021. She won the girls’ doubles titles at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships with Kristina Dmitruk and the 2022 Australian Open with Clervie Ngounoue.She also won the girls’ doubles titles at the 2022 US Open and was a finalist at the 2020 French Open. In girls’ singles, she was a semifinalist at the 2021 French Open and 2022 US Open, and a quarterfinalist at the 2022 Australian Open.
Career
Shnaider turned professional in May 2023. She made her Grand Slam main draw debut at the 2023 Australian Open and played one season of college tennis at NC State, leading the team to the ACC title and NCAA final. She won her first WTA 125 title at the Montevideo Open in 2022.In 2024, Shnaider won four WTA singles titles: the Thailand Open (Hua Hin), Bad Homburg Open, Budapest Grand Prix, and Hong Kong Open, becoming the youngest woman since 2009 to win titles on three different surfaces in a single season.
She reached the third round at Wimbledon and the fourth round at the US Open, and finished the year ranked inside the Top 20. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, she partnered with Mirra Andreeva to win the silver medal in women’s doubles.
In 2025, Shnaider and Andreeva won their first WTA doubles title at the Brisbane International and their first WTA 1000 doubles title at the Miami Open. Shnaider reached the semifinals at the Adelaide International and the semifinals in doubles at the Australian Open.
