Wu Yibing is a professional tennis player from China. In February 2023, he made history by becoming the first Chinese man to win an ATP Tour Level title in the Open Era when he won the Dallas Open Title.

Wu Yibing was born on October 14, 1999, in Hangzhou, China. He still resides in his hometown. He stands 183 cm tall and he plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand. He is coached by Gerardo Azcurra and as of February 2023, he has earned a little over US$600,000 in prize money.

His highest career ranking to date is Number 58, which he reached on February 12, 2023.

Junior Career

As a junior player, Wu won the US Open junior doubles title in 2017, becoming the first Chinese man to win a Grand Slam title. That year, he also made it to the semifinals of the Australian Open junior men’s doubles event.

The year before that in 2016, he also made the final of the Orange Bowl.

Professional Career

Wu turned pro in 2017 at that year’s Chengdu Open where he was granted a wildcard. In October 2017, he made his ATP Masters debut when he was also granted a wildcard to play in the Shanghai Masters.

He did not play from 2019 to 2021 since he took a hiatus due to injury.

In 2022, he won a total of three Challenger titles. That year, he also set the record for being the first Chinese man to qualify to play in a Grand Slam when he qualified for the US Open. He also made it as far as the third round, setting records along the way.

In 2023, he made it to the first round of the Australian Open and in February 2023, he became the first Chinese man to win an ATP Tour Level title when he won the Dallas Open, beating John Isner in the finals.
