Dimitar Kuzmanov is a Bulgarian tennis player. He has a career-high singles ranking of 181, which he achieved in 181. As of April 2022, he is ranked No.206, making him the No.2 player in Bulgaria. In addition, he has a doubles career-high rank of 438, which he reached in April 2019.

Player Profile and Personal Life

Kuzmanov was born on July 28, 1993, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. His father was an aeronautical engineer and his mother is Dora Rangelova, who was a former tennis player and Fed Cup captain. His uncle Stefan Rangelov is a tennis player as well and serves as Kuzmanov’s coach.

Kuzmanov stands 183 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 77 kg. He is right-handed and he has a two-handed backhand. Since he turned pro in 2009, he has earned almost US$400,000.

Career

As a youth player, he played in the Tennis Europe Junior Tour. In 2008, he started playing in the Junior circuit of the ITF. As a professional player, he debuted in the Bulgaria F2 ITF Futures in 2009. Since he was just 15, he continued to play as a junior and was even named the Player of the Tennis Europe Junior for Boys U16 – 2009. He was the first from his country to win this.

He won his first ITF doubles title in 2012. In 2013, he took home his first singles title and he broke into the Top 500 of the world rankings. He made his ATP main draw debut in 2016 when he received a wildcard to play in the Sofia Open.

He made his Grand Slam qualifiers debut in 2021 when he appeared in the French Open. He would also be in the qualifiers for Wimbledon and the US Open. In 2022, he joined the Australian Open qualifiers.
