He turned pro in 2017 but he did not make his ATP debut until 2021. This was at the Delray Beach Open. He later earned his first win at the 2021 Cordoba Open, defeating Andrej Martin in the process.

In 2021, he broke into the Top 150 of the rankings for the first time. This was in August 2021 after a Challenger title win. In 2022, Etcheverry debuted in the Grand Slams at the Australian Open. He made it through the qualifications before eventually losing in the first round.
