Tallon Griekspoor was born on July 2, 1996, in Haarlem, Netherlands, and grew up in Nieuw-Vennep. He stands 188 cm tall and weighs 85 kg. Griekspoor plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand.He comes from a sporting family - his older twin brothers, Scott Griekspoor and Kevin Griekspoor, also played tennis professionally. Griekspoor began playing tennis at age six at the Nieuw-Vennep Tennis Club before moving to Zandvoort Tennis Club at age twelve.
His grandfather founded the family construction company, Griekspoor BV.
Career
Griekspoor turned professional in 2015 and made his ATP main draw debut as a wildcard at the 2017 Rotterdam Open. He gained early attention by upsetting top seeds Stanislas Wawrinka and Karen Khachanov at Rotterdam.He qualified for his first Grand Slam main draw at the 2020 Australian Open and broke into the top 150 later that year.
His breakthrough came in 2021, when Griekspoor won a record eight ATP Challenger titles, including five consecutively, finishing the year ranked No. 65 and breaking into the ATP Top 100 for the first time. He made his Wimbledon debut and reached the second round of the US Open, where he pushed Novak Djokovic to four sets.
In 2022, Griekspoor reached his first ATP quarterfinal at the Melbourne Summer Set and won his maiden ATP doubles title at the European Open in Antwerp with Botic van de Zandschulp. He broke into the top 50 after consistent results at Grand Slams and ATP events.
The 2023 season was a milestone year. Griekspoor won his first ATP singles title at the Maharashtra Open in Pune and his second at the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships in the Netherlands.
He reached the third round of the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open, and made his first ATP 500 final in Washington, defeating World No. 9 Taylor Fritz for his first top-10 win. He also reached the quarterfinals at the Masters 1000 in Paris and finished the year ranked No. 21.
In 2024, Griekspoor continued his strong form, reaching the third round of the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and US Open, and the second round at Wimbledon. He made the fourth round of the Madrid Masters for the first time and helped the Netherlands reach the Davis Cup final for the first time in their history.
In early 2025, Griekspoor recorded his 100th career win and his first top-5 victory, defeating Daniil Medvedev in Dubai and Alexander Zverev at Indian Wells. He reached his first Masters quarterfinal at Indian Wells, becoming the first Dutchman to do so at the event in 25 years.
