Joran Vliegen
Joran Vliegen is a Belgian tennis player, who is currently ranked as the world number 32 in the doubles division. In his singles ranking career, he earned the World Number 508. Vliegen was born and raised in Maaseik, Belgium, with his parents and brother. At the age of 5 years old, he took interest in playing tennis and he moved to the US to further his studies and continue his passion for the sport. He attended East Carolina University, where he joined the tennis varsity team. In 2014, he has declared the Conference USA Player of the Year. In the same year, he earned degrees in business.
Personal Life
Vliegen's habit practice when he was a junior player is to never reach more than 10 hours, so he could regenerate himself into the game. Aside from tennis, he enjoyed playing and watching American football, and he is an avid supporter of the Carolina Panthers. His favorite tennis tournament is the Australian Open.Tennis Career
Vliegen started his professional career when he joined the Belgium Davis Cup team, and he was partnered with Sander Gille. However, their team was lost against Ryan Harrison and Jack Sock. In 2019, both of them surprised the tennis spectators when they defeated Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares.He also made his debut at the Grand Slam during the 2019 French Open, where he played with Mikhail Kukushkin until the quarterfinals. During the 2019 Wimbledon Open, he also debuted for mixed doubles where he partnered with Zheng Saisai. In the same year, he won his first ATP Tour with Gille at the 2019 Swedish Open. His partnership with Gille lives on until the Austrian Open and the Zhuhai Championships.
His partnership with Gille seemed to be working out well, that's why they continued to shine through the 2020 Astana Open and the 2021 Singapore Open.
