Career

In 2021, he made it to the finals of the doubles matches in the Australian Open with fellow Australian Luke Saville. The duo became the first all-Australian team-up to reach the finals of a Grand Slam since the 2000 Wimbledon.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Purcell made it to the first round. In October 2021, he was listed at No.38 in the doubles listing. This also caused his singles ranking to go up and he broke into the Top 200.
