Catherine McNally is a professional American tennis player. She has a career-high ranking of Number 62, which she reached in May 2023. She also has a doubles career-high rank of Number 11, reached in April 2022.

Catherine "Caty" McNally was born on November 20, 2001, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She stands 180 cm tall and she is right-handed with a two-handed backhand. Her mother Lyn Nabors-McNally was briefly a pro tennis player and she had a doubles career-high rank within the top 250.

She is coached by her mother Lynn and by Kevin O’Neill. Since she turned pro, she has earned a little over US$2 million.

Career

As a junior, she won the French Open junior doubles while paired with Iga Swiatek. She also made it to the final of the same tournament but lost to Coco Gauff. In September 2018, she and Gauff paired up and they won the US Open girls’ doubles.

She turned pro in 2019 but prior to that, she had made her WTA Tour debut in a doubles match at the Western and Southern Open, paired with Alexa Glatch.

McNally made her Grand Slam main draw debut in 2019. She was in the first round of Wimbledon and the second round of the US Open. Her best singles finish in a Grand Slam so far is the third round of the US Open in 2020.

She has also made it as far as the second round of the Madrid Open and the Italian Open. These led to her career-high singles ranking of Number 62, reached in May 2023.

McNally has had better success as a doubles player. In 2020, she reached her first Australian Open quarterfinals. She repeated her quarters finish in Australia in 2021. In the same year, she was in the doubles finals of the US Open paired with Gauff. She was in the finals again in 2022, but this time she was paired with Taylor Townsend.

As a doubles player, she was in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Open in 2019 and the Miami Open in 2022, and Indian Wells in 2023. Also in 2023, she was in the women’s doubles semifinals in Miami.
