Taylor Townsend is a professional tennis player from the United States. She is a doubles expert and has a career-high doubles ranking of World No.5, which she reached in June 2023. In 2022, she made it to the finals of the US Open women’s doubles and the finals of the French Open women’s doubles in 2023.

Also in 2023, she made it to the quarterfinals for the Australian Open mixed doubles event.

Taylor Townsend was born on April 16, 1996, in Chicago, Illinois. She currently resides in Smyrna, Georgia also in the United States. She stands 170 cm tall and is left-handed with a two-handed backhand.

Career

As a junior, Townsend won the 2012 Australian Open Junior title. She was the second American to win it after Kim Kessaris. She also won the Wimbledon Junior doubles title while paired with Eugene Bouchard and the US Open Junior title alongside Gabrielle Andrews.

As a professional, she made her Grand Slam main draw debut as a singles player in 2014, she made it all the way to the third round of the French Open. Her best finish as a singles player in a Grand Slam was in the fourth round of the US Open.

She made her Grand Slam debut earlier as a doubles player. In 2021, she made it through to the third round of the US Open. Her best finish in a Grand Slam was also at the US Open, she was in the 2022 finals.

In 2023, she reached the rank of Number 6 as a doubles player after she made it to the 2nd round of the Australian Open, the finals of the Miami Open, and the semifinals of the Madrid Open.

In the same year, she made it to the finals of the French Open women’s doubles. She also rose to Number 5 in the doubles rankings in June 2023.
