Tamarine Tanasugarn is a Thai former professional tennis player who holds the distinction of having the highest ranking ever achieved by a Thai female player, at World No. 19. She is a former doubles partner with Maria Sharapova, with whom she won two titles in 2003.
She won four singles and eight doubles titles on the WTA Tour and holds a law degree from Bangkok University.

Tamarine Tanasugarn was born on May 24, 1977, in Los Angeles, USA. She stands 165 cm tall and she plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand.She is a law graduate of Bangkok University. In addition to her tennis career, she has served in the Royal Thai Police.
Professional Career
Tanasugarn turned professional in 1994. Her career-high singles ranking of World No. 19, achieved in May 2002, is the highest ranking ever for a Thai female player.She is regarded as a grass-court specialist and holds one of the records for most singles matches won on that surface among active players. Her biggest individual success came in 2008 when she reached the singles quarterfinals at the Wimbledon Championships.
Throughout her career, Tanasugarn won four singles titles and eight doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She was briefly a doubles partner with Maria Sharapova, with whom she won two titles in 2003.
She also reached the doubles semifinals of the Wimbledon Championships in 2011 with Marina Erakovic. Tanasugarn holds a number of victories over former and current No. 1 players, including Amélie Mauresmo and Simona Halep.
Tanasugarn was a regular competitor for the Thailand Billie Jean King Cup team, helping her country join the World Group II in 2005 and 2006. She also won numerous medals at the Asian Games and the Southeast Asian Games. Tanasugarn retired from singles tennis in 2016.
