Anastasia Potapova is a Russian professional tennis player who reached a career-high WTA singles ranking of World No. 21 on June 19, 2023. She has won three WTA singles titles and three WTA doubles titles. Potapova is a former junior World No. 1 and the 2016 Wimbledon girls' singles champion.

Anastasia Potapova was born on March 30, 2001, in Saratov, Russia, and currently resides in Khimki. Standing 175 cm tall, she plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand.She trains at the Alexander Ostrovsky Academy in Khimki and is coached by Dorian Descloix. Potapova was inspired to start playing tennis by her grandmother, a former Russian national team coach. Off court, she enjoys basketball. Potapova was married to Kazakhstani player Alexander Shevchenko from December 2023 to September 2024.
Junior Career
Potapova was a standout junior, achieving the No. 1 ITF junior ranking in July 2016.She won the 2016 Wimbledon girls' singles title and reached four junior Grand Slam finals (one singles, three doubles). Her junior highlights include a semifinal at the 2016 French Open, quarterfinals at the 2016 Australian Open and 2015 Wimbledon, and doubles finals at the 2015 US Open and 2016 French Open.
Career
Since turning professional in 2017, Potapova has steadily climbed the WTA rankings. She won her first WTA singles title as a qualifier at Istanbul in 2022, followed by titles in Linz (2023) and Cluj-Napoca (2025).Potapova has also reached three additional WTA singles finals and claimed doubles titles in Moscow (2018), Lausanne (2019), and Prague (2022).
Her best Grand Slam singles result came at the 2024 French Open, where she reached the fourth round. She has also made the third round at the Australian Open (2021), Wimbledon (2023), and US Open (2024).
Potapova reached her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal at Indian Wells in 2024 and has posted wins over several top-10 players, including Angelique Kerber, Coco Gauff, and Maria Sakkari. She has represented Russia in the Billie Jean King Cup, holding a 3–1 record.
