Magda Linette was born on February 12, 1992 in Poznań, Poland, to Tomasz Linette and Beata Linette. She stands 171 cm tall and is right-handed with a two-handed backhand. She is coached by Mark Gellard and Agnieszka Radwanska. Since turning pro, she has earned over US$7.1 million in prize money.

Her father is a tennis coach and her mother is an educator. Linette was coached by Izudin Zunić during the first half of her career, before partnering with Mark Gellard in 2018.

As a youth, Linette represented local club Grunwald Poznań and achieved success at the junior level in Poland.

Career

Linette turned professional in 2009 and made her WTA main-draw debut at the Internationaux de Strasbourg in 2013, where she also scored her first main-draw win. She reached her first WTA semifinal at the Baku Cup the same year and won her first WTA 125 title at the Ningbo International Open in 2014.

Linette broke into the Top 100 in 2015 and reached her first WTA final at the Japan Open. She won her maiden WTA singles title at the Bronx Open in 2019 and added titles at the Thailand Open in 2020 and the Prague Open in 2024.

She was a finalist at Rouen in 2024, Guangzhou in 2023, Chennai in 2022, Seoul in 2019, and Tokyo in 2015. Linette reached her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal at Wuhan in 2024.

Her best Grand Slam result came at the 2023 Australian Open, where she reached the semifinals. She has reached the third round or better at all four majors and was a doubles semifinalist at the 2021 French Open. Linette has represented Poland in the Billie Jean King Cup and at three Olympic Games.

In 2025, Linette reached quarterfinals at the Abu Dhabi Open and Miami Open.
