Kyle Steven Edmund is a professional tennis player who was born on January 8, 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Edmund moved to Britain when he was just three years old, and spent his years growing up in Trickton, near Beverley. He grew up pursuing sports, mainly cricket and swimming, but switched to tennis when he was 10 years old after having lessons at the David Lloyd Racquet and Fitness Club.

Edmund’s father was born in Wales but was raised in Zimbabwe when he was just a child. His mother, Denise, is also from South Africa. Edmund plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand, and is currently coached by Mark Hilton and Fredrik Rosengren since 2017.

Starting his senior career in 2010, Edmund began playing in ITF Futures circuit until 2013 when he had his first ATP tour match. By 2014, Edmund was called to play for Great Britain in the Davis Cup as a reserve singles player.

Edmund’s breakthrough year came in 2016 when he started his year playing in the Qatar Open and reached his first ATP quarterfinal. Unfortunately, he was defeated by Tomas Berdych. Recently, he was able to reach his first Grand Slam semifinal as well as his first ATP final.

So far, Edmund has a career record of 64 victories and 69 losses. He does not have any ATP career titles yet, although he has 5 challenger titles, and 5 futures titles. He is currently ranked at No. 23, which is also his highest rank achieved so far.
