Andrea Petkovic (Андреа Петковић) was born on September 9, 1987, in Tuzla, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia. A few months after she was born, her family moved to Darmstadt, Germany. She stands 180 cm tall and she plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand.

Petkovic started playing tennis when she was six years old and was introduced to the sport by her father Zoran Petković. She turned pro in 2006 and is coached by Petar Popović. Since she turned pro, she has earned $8,749,248 in prize money.

Career

She made her Grand Slam main draw debut in 2007 and she progressed to the second round of that year’s French Open and US Open. In 2011, she had made it to the quarterfinals of three of the four Majors, aside from Wimbledon.

Her best singles Grand Slam finish to date came in 2014 when she was in the semifinal of Roland Garros. In 2022, she won her second singles career title at the Winners Open where she beat Mayar Sherif in the finals.
