Swiss player Roger Federer proved that he was the man to beat on the court when he defeated Fernando Verdasco on Sunday, despite having to deal with an erratic forehand. Federer got off to a shaky start when he was broken in the opening game of the Group A match, but it was all uphill from there. He ended with 30 winners and 29 unforced errors compared to Verdasco’s 18 winning shots and 31 unforced errors.roger federer

Federer won the round robin stage in the ATP World Tour Finals with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. This win runs at the heels of his two previous losses, first at the Swiss Indoors where he was beaten by Novak Djokovic and then was defeated by Julien Benneteau in Paris at the Paris Masters.

Andy Murray also emerged the winner in Team A beating Juan Martin del Potro with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The two started the match with equally brilliant winning shots, but it was a double-fault from del Potro that gave Murray the one point lead. Murray also dominated the third set despite the long serves del Potro was handing out.

Federer is slated to play Murray on Thursday.
