The US has one of the strongest teams going into the Billie Jean King Cup with Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff on board.

The US holds the record for the most BJK Cup wins with 18. They are the clear favorites to win against Austria in Florida, especially given the home court advantage for Gauff.

“We’re not taking this lightly,” said US captain Kathy Rinaldi. She had named Madison Keys and Danielle Collins to the US BJK Cup team as well.

“We’re going in prepared. We’re going to prepare like we prepare for any other tie, not be overconfident.”

As for the Austrian side, their highest ranked player is Julia Grabher, world number 78. Despite that, the Americans vow to remain on guard as they were upset by Austria back in 2002.

“I have great memories, of course, because it was a big surprise,” said Austria team Captain Marion Maruska, who was part of the team that beat the US in the first round of the 2002 event.

“The Austrians, the press, nobody came because everybody thought we were going to lose.”

Two countries who have received a bye to the finals are champions Switzerland and runners-up Australia. Both countries are favorites to win as well.

Other favorites going into the qualifiers include Ukraine who has Marta Kostyuk.

Britain has stuck with their team from last year who made a surprising appearance in the semi-finals last year despite not having Emma Raducanu on the team.
