The 21-time major champion Novak Djokovic raced to a 6-0, 6-3 triumph over 20-year-old Lorenzo Musetti after one hour and 14 minutes at the Accor Arena in Paris-Bercy.
In a flawless start to the first set, the Serbian quickly neutralized his opponent, dictating play to march and seal an impressive 6-0 win in just 24 minutes.
Staying perfect, he won 100 percent of the first serve points, striking six winners, committing just two unforced errors, and converting three of five break points opportunities.
In the second set, Musetti, who entered the match off the back of his maiden Top 5 win against World No. 4 Casper Ruud, regrouped, clinching his first game to level the score 1-1, converting his first breakpoint soon after, to take a 2-1 lead.
However, the sixth seed was back to business in no time, breaking back and holding to open a 3-2 advantage.
The Italian raised his level, attempting to showcase some of his best tennis, which last month led him to claim his maiden title on Tour on the hard courts in Naples.
But Djokovic continued to deliver, denying the World No. 23 a chance to build on a short-lived recovery.
Solid from the back of the court and wise on return, the 35-year-old produced a pivotal double break in the sixth game.
On full display, the reigning Wimbledon champion stayed untroubled behind his serve, wrapping up a 6-3 win after 49 minutes, keeping his chances alive to capture a seventh title at the Parisian Masters.
The 38-time ATP Masters 1000 winner rounded up a top performance, winning 86 percent of the first serve points, while Musetti won 45 percent on his.
In addition, the Belgrade native hit 14 winners, converting five of 11 breakpoint opportunities throughout the match.
Djokovic will meet fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas on Saturday. The Greek toppled American Tommy Paul 6-2, 6-4.
Elsewhere, eight seed Felix Auger-Aliassime overpowered American Frances Tiafoe 6-1, 6-4 earlier on Friday.
After the match, the Canadian, who earned his 16th win in a row, said: “Of course, a few times the luck was on my side, but I feel like also I played a great match.”
“Serving for the match, [I] stayed cool and played great points when I needed to.”
Meanwhile, World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz retired from the match against Holger Rune at 6-3, 6-6, due to an abdominal issue.
The 19-year-old Dane will face the Canadian player in their semifinal clash, a rematch of their recent final in Basel, which the latter won.
In that regard, Rune outlined: “I know what happened last week, and I can take a lot from that and learn from it and do a lot different tomorrow. I’m super pumped and excited for what is going to happen.”
Musetti will play next at the Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals as the top-seeded player at the season-ending 21-and-under event in Milan.
After his third-round exit at the U.S. Open, Simone Tartarini’s pupil reached the semifinals in Sofia, and Florence, emerging victorious on home soil at the ATP 250 tournament in Naples by beating countryman and second seed Matteo Berrettini in straight sets.
