Kerber was beaten by Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4 7-6 (7-5). Azarenka was knocked out by Swiss player, Jil Teichmann 4-6 7-5 7-6 (10-5). The match between Azarenka and Teichmann lasted a grueling three hours and 18 minutes.
Sasnovich was also coming off a win over Emma Raducanu. Teichmann will now face off Sloan Stephens. This is the fourth time she is playing in the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament.
Unlike the extremely exciting match that it took for Teichmann to make it to the fourth round, Stephens path seemed far easier as she made a quick job of defeating Diane Parry 6-2 6-3.
Elsewhere, Leyla Fernandez and Coco Gauff both make it into the fourth round and the last 16.
Guff won over Kaia Kanepoi. Of her win, Gauff said, “It’s crazy, she’s 36 - playing at this level. She’s still playing really well, good tennis.
“If I still want to play (at 36), I hope I’m playing at that level. Nowadays it’s kind of rare - you see players finishing or playing their career on their own terms. I’m glad she’s able to play.”
She is next set to play Elise Mertens.
Canadian player, Fernandez defeated Belinda Bencic and is next to play Amanda Anisimova from the United States.
Anisimova moved on to the fourth round after her third-round match ended when her opponent, Karolina Muchova, injured herself.
“It’s very tough and I feel really bad for her. She’s had a tough year with injuries,” said Anisimova.
