History

Originally founded as Independiente Fútbol Club de Pindal, the team started its journey in the Segunda Categoría de Loja during the 2018 season. Despite facing challenges, including an early exit in the national phase of the Segunda Categoría in 2019, the club demonstrated resilience. In 2020, a pivotal name change to Libertad Fútbol Club marked a new chapter in their history. They clinched the Loja tournament title but again faced hurdles in the wider Segunda Categoría.

Success came in waves, as they secured a second consecutive title in Loja in 2021, which propelled them to the Serie B as champions. Their inaugural season in the Serie B in 2022 was a groundbreaking experience, as they finished third overall and, due to the ineligibility of Independiente Juniors for promotion, they made a swift ascent to the Serie A.
