Pachuca

Club de Fútbol Pachuca, affectionately known as Los Tuzos, is a storied soccer club based in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. Established in 1901, Pachuca is among the oldest soccer teams in the Americas, originally founded by Cornish miners who sought to play the game during their leisure time. The team has evolved significantly since its inception and currently competes at the highest level in Liga MX.

History

Pachuca's journey began as the Pachuca Athletic Club, and it quickly became a founding member of the Mexican Primera División in 1907. Throughout the early years, the club faced challenges, including the impact of the Mexican Revolution, which left them as one of the few teams still active. The club enjoyed early successes, winning league titles from 1917 to 1920 under the guidance of British coach Alfred C. Crowle.

The professional era for Pachuca started in the late 1960s, with their first championship in the Segunda División in 1967. However, the club struggled and faced relegation multiple times in the ensuing decades. It wasn't until the late 1990s that Pachuca began its ascent to prominence, earning promotion back to the Primera División in 1998. Under the management of Javier Aguirre, Pachuca broke through to claim its first league title in the 1999 Winter tournament, marking the beginning of a new golden era.
