The Serbia national football teamimage:Serbia Beli Orlovi, White Eagles|Serbia national football team represents Serbia in the international football competition. The Football Association of Serbia controls this team which is nicknamed as Beli Orlovi, meaning White Eagles. Stadion Crena is the home stadium of this team. As per FIFA world ranking, this team is ranked at 13th place. This team is considered as the direct descendant of the SFR Yugoslavia national football team by both UEFA and FIFA. The head coach of this team is Radomir Antić and Dejan Stanković is the captain of this team.

It was in 2010 that the world watched for the first time in history this team representing as an independent nation in the World Cup. This team was initially called by the name the “Yugoslav national football team” from 1991 till 2003. Later on, this team was named as the “Serbia and Montenegro football team” till 2006. In 2006, Serbia declared independence as a successor state of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. On 28th June 2006, the team got its official name as the “Serbian national football team”, while the “Montenegro national football team” was created representing the new state of Montenegro.

Serbia has played in around 11 FIFA World Cup, which includes 4 consecutive titles from 1950 to 1962, as “SFR Yugoslavia”. The team was unable to get qualified for the 1994 tournament due to the Yugoslav wars and international sanctions placed on the country and region. In 2010 World Cup, the team was qualified under the name of Serbia.

Most of the caps were made by Savo Milošević with 102 appearances who also achieved the maximum scores of 37 goals. Their first world cup was in 1930 and till date they have made 11 appearances in the World cup with their best result being in the 4th position in 1930 and in 1962. This team appeared in 5 matches of the European Championship, their first match being in 1960. Their best result was being in the second place in 1960 and in 1968.
