Zalaegerszegi Torna Egylet (ZTE) is a Hungarian football club based in Zalaegerszeg. They currently feature in the Hungarian first division.
ZTE’’s roots can be traced back to 1912 when during the Austro-Hungarian Empire they played against Vasvar and lost the match 4-2. They were progressing quite decently when World War I came.
In 1920 the club was reborn as Gymanistics Club of Zalaegerszeg. They joined the Hungarian second division in 1924 and gained promotion to the top flight in 1934. During World War II, their equipement and ground were confiscated and then in 1957 they merged with two other local sides.
ZTE play their home matches at the ZTE Arena that can accommodate 14,000 spectators.

ZTE then became an also ran in the Hungarian first division but won their first league title in the 2001-2002 season. However, they have since gone off the boil.
