Leixoes Sport Club, often known simply as Leixoes, is a Portuguese sports club based in Matosinhos. Their footballing section currently feature in the Portuguese liga.
Leixoes were established in 1907 and are one of Portugal’s most historic sports clubs. In 1961 they won the Cup of Portugal by defeating FC Porto in the final and in the 1960s featured consistently in European competitions. They declined after that but were back into the big time in 2002 when they featured in the final of the Cup of Portugal. They gained promotion to the Liga in 2007 after some 18 years since their relegation.
Leixoes play their home matches at the Estadio do Mar that has a capacity of 16,035 spectators. They bear the nicknames “The Babies” and the “Sea horses”.
