Atenas de San Carlos

Club Atletico Atenas are a football team based out of the town of San Carlos, in Uruguay. The team has never played in the top-flight and only managed to reach the Segunda Division in 2002. The team has won many titles at the local level including 23 city-level titles, 12 departmental cups and 3 departmental league championships. At the regional level, they have won 4 Campeonato del Este championships in 1965, 1975, 1985 and 1986.

They have the 1965, 1975, 1976 and 2001 editions of the Clubes Campeones del Interior championships to add to their three championship wins at the Supercopa de Clubes Campeones del Interior in from 1971, 1972 and 1973. The team plays at the Estadio Atenas San Carlos, an 8,000 capacity arena in the town of San Carlos. In Fernando Clavijo, Mateo Figoli and many like players, Atletico Atenas have seen some incredible players don their colours.
