Clube Nautico Marcilio Dias, or just Marcelo Dias as it is known, is a Brazilian Football team based out of Itajai in the Santa Catarina state. The club was initially developed to encourage people to take to the waters for rowing in the city. Hence the nautical reference in the name was brought in by their first president, Ignacio Mascarenhas.
Since turning to football, the club has made major waves in the Brazilian football scene by being a part of the Serie B, the Serie C and winning many high level competitions. The first title came in 1963, in the form of the state championships. Since then, not only has Marcilio Dias won other trophies including the Recopa Sul-Brasileira (2007) and the Copa Santa Catarina (2007), but has also been part of the Serie B league level in 1989 and the Serie C for 6 seasons. Playing its home games at the 12,000 seater Hercilio Luz stadium, Marcilio Dias have also been a part of the Copa Joao Havelange in 2000.
