Katlego Mphelaimage:Katlego Mphela |Katlego Mphela is a South African football player playing for South Africa and Mamelodi Sundowns in the Premier Soccer League. This striker stands five feet and eleven and a half inches tall.
During his club years, he played for Jomo Cosmos from 2003 to 2004 with 2 appearances in Johannesburg. Later on, in France he played for RC Strasbourg, where he made 19 appearances and Stade Reims from 2004 to 2006, making 5 appearances respectively, though in both the teams, he had limited success. Before joining RC Strasbourg, he was very close to joining other team, Rosenborg in Norway. Apart from these teams, he also played for Supersport United from 2006 to 2008 and made 62 appearances with 17 goals. Later on, he made 48 appearances and 20 goals for Mamelodi Sundowns, which he joined from 2008 onwards.
Mphela scored a brace on his international debut whilst playing against Seychelles team in 2005 in Mauritiuson. For 31 times, he represented South Africa and scored almost 15 goals. He made the team’s only goal in the 3-1 defeat against Tunisia team in the African Nations Cup in 2008.

In 2009-10 season, he scored 17 goals in 30 games and this achievement made him the top goal scorer of the league. He was also voted as the player of the season.
His greatest moment came in the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2009, in the third place playoff against Spain. As a substitute, he produced the goal of the tournament arguably with a free kick from thirty yards, turning out to be the last action of the ninety minutes, sending the game to extra time. In 2010, in the World Cup, he was included in the 23 man final squad of South Africa.
