Dejan Stankovic is a former Serbia international football player who plays for the Italian giants Inter Milan. He features in the midfield but can also play on the wings and as a back-up striker.

Stankovic came through the youth ranks at Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade and made his senior debut for them in the 1994-1995 season. He played for Red Star with pomp and valour until 1998 and was one of the most popular and talented players in Serbia at the time. He was made the captain of Red Star for the 1997-1998 season.

In the summer of 1998 Italian side Lazio signed him for £7.5 million and in his six seasons at the Stadio Olimpico, Stankovic played in 137 league matches for them, scoring 22 goals.

Inter Milan signed the player in the January 2004 and has been a regular for the Nerazzurri since. He won five Scudetti in his tenure with Inter Milan, four Coppa Italia titles and one Champions League trophies.

Stankovic made his international debut for erstwhile Yugoslavia in 1998 and was the first captain of the Serbia national football team. He made 102 international appearances for his country, scoring 15 goals, before retiring in 2011. He is currently tied with Savo Milosevic as the most capped player in Serbian football history.
