George Weah is a former professional footballer and politician from Liberia. He is the 25th president of Liberia. In 1995, he was awarded the Ballon d’Or and the Onze d’Or. In the same year, he was also named the FIFA World Player of the Year. He played for a number of big clubs in his football career, including Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City. He also played for AC Milan.

George Tawlon Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah was born on October 1, 1966, in Monrovia, Liberia. He grew up in Clara Town and is a member of the Kru Ethnic Group. His parents are Anna and William and he is one of thirteen kids.He started playing football in his local club, the Young Survivors Youth Club when he was 15 years old. In order to support himself before his football career, he worked as a switchboard technician.
After he retired, he started a political career and became the 25th president of Liberia.
Football Career
He started his senior career playing for Bong Range United from 1985 to 1986. He continued to play for local clubs through to 1988 when he was signed by AS Monaco. Weah played for the club from 1988 to 1992, making 103 appearances.From Monaco, he signed to play with Paris Saint-Germain. He was with PSG from 1992 to 1995, making 96 appearances. Later, he was signed by AC Milan and played for the club for five years.
In 1995, he won his Ballon D’Or award. He was also awarded the Onze D’Or award this year and was named the FIFA World Player of the Year.
In 2000, he was loaned by Milan to Chelsea. In that year, he also played for Manchester City.
For the 2001-2002 season, he played for Marseille before playing for Al Jazira from 2001 to 2003. He retired in 2003. He has been named to the AC Milan Hall of Fame.
