Darren Ward is a Welsh international football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Sunderland. He plays as a goalkeeper.
Darren Ward commenced his professional footballing career at Mansfield Town in 1992 and played regularly for them until 1995. He featured in 81 league matches and was signed by Notts County in 1995. He was an instant favourite and played regularly for them. He played in a whooping 252 league matches between 1995 and 2001 when he was signed by Nott County’s archrivals Notthingham Forest. He played for them for three seasons and featured in 123 league matches.
In July 2004 Darren Ward moved to Norwich City, then in the Premiership, but could only feature in one Premiership match for them in two seasons. He joined Sunderland at the end of the 2005-2006 season when he was released by Norwich City but he has failed to maintain the first choice goalkeeping slot.
Darren Ward made his international debut for Wales in 2000 and has featured in 5 international matches for his nation.
