Daniel John “Danny” Higginbotham is an English football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Stoke City. He plays as a defender.

Daniel Higginbotham started his professional career at Premier League powerhouse Manchester United in 1997 and was officially their player for three seasons and featured in 4 Premier League matches for the Red Devils.

Higginbotham though played the 1998-1999 season on loan at Man United’s feeder club in Belgium Royal Antwerp and was banned for four months after he attacked a referee.

Daniel Higginbotham was signed by Derby County for 2 million pounds in 2000 and made his debut for the Rams against Southampton and became a regular for Derby, featuring in 86 league matches and scoring 3 goals.

In 2003 he was signed by south coast club Southampton for 1.5 million pounds and Higginbotham was again successful for the Saints in the three years that he played for them. He scored four goals in 94 league matches for them and in 2006 was signed by Stoke City. He played for them in the 2006-2007 season and scored 7 goals in 45 league matches and was signed by Sunderland for the 2007-2008 season.

Daniel Higginbotham was quite impressively for Sunderland in the 2007-2008 season and scored 3 goals in 21 Premier League matches. In the summer of 2008 Higginbotham was signed by Stoke City for 2.5 million pounds.
