Alejandro Garnacho Ferreyra is a soccer player playing for Manchester United. He is an Argentina international winger.
Playing Career
Garnacho was born in Madrid and spent time at youth level with Getafe before switching to Atletico Madrid in 2015 as an 11-year-old.
He never played for Atletico’s first team, instead moving to England in October 2020 to join Manchester United’s Academy. He penned his first professional contract with United in July 2021. Around this time he earned a Spain Under-18 call-up.
In the 2021-22 season, he won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award and helped United win the FA Youth Cup, scoring twice in the final. He made his professional Manchester United debut in April 2022 coming on as a late substitute against Chelsea.
Garnacho played 34 times in all competitions in the 2022-23 season, netting five goals, while he earned an Argentina call-up in 2022, eventually making his senior international debut in June 2023 against Australia.
In the 2023-24 season, Garnacho switched his shirt number from 49 to 17 and made a name for himself with a spectacular bicycle kick goal against Everton in November 2023.
