Shola Ameobi
Foluwashola “Shola” Ameobi is a Nigerian born English football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Newcastle United. He is a centre forward and in his younger days was said to be a permanent replacement for Geordie legend Alan Shearer.
Shola Ameobi developed at the youth club of Newcastle United and made his debut for the senior side in 2000. He has since played over 160 matches for the English Premier League, scoring just 28 goals in the league.
But Ameobi has never managed to make himself huge for Newcastle as he has consistently flattered to deceive. He is not a regular first choice striker at Newcastle anymore and was loaned out to Stoke City in March 2008 for until the end of the 2007-2008 season.
Shola Ameobi was supposed to joined Ipswich Town in the summer of 2008 but the move collapsed as he couldn’t prove himself medically fit.
